He wants to stand but not crawl...

This is Eli this morning at almost 7 months. He did not pull himself all the way up, but he wanted to stand so we stood  him up. And he stood. And stood...

Eli reading his Daddy Book

Eli has a picture book with Brian's pictures in it. It is so that he can see his face and remember his dad while he is away. Eli likes books and magazines and he scans every page and looks for the words immediately. However ,when he reads this book. he reaches for Brian's face on every page and then looks at the words.

Here is a video I took while he read the book. (I have no idea what the croaking sound is in the video)

Some recent pictures

Brian left for Afghanistan at the beginning of November so Eli and I are spending the Holidays with my parents.
On Friday, the 23rd Eli will be 7 months old. Oh how the time flies!
Here are some of his recent developments in words and pictures:
  • He is sitting up on his own with an occasional topple over when he reaches for toys.
  • He is not crawling, but he is moving backwards and starting to raise his bottom off the floor while laying on his belly.
  • No teeth yet
  • Other than milk, he likes vegetables, especially carrots. Bananas are not his friend, however he devours mango.
  • He is very observant and social. Eli likes to interact with people and warms up to them almost immediately.
  • He wants to stand up and started taking steps when we hold his hands. It looks like he would like to skip the crawling stage and go straight to walking, so wo be unto me very soon, trying to get him crawling before walking.
  • He is very active, as most boys are.
Now onto the pictures. It will be a picture overload but I promised Brian to post lots of pictures on the blog since his internet is too slow to download pictures on email.
 First solid food

Eli likes his jumperoo , it lets him get some energy out.

The night of Brian's departure to Afghanistan

Last hug before daddy got on the bus and left
We had a brunch with some of Eli's little buddies. Fun!

 At his grandparents' house

A really nice part of our visit was Eli meeting his Uncle Garvin, who stopped by Slovakia during his European vacation. Thank you for coming Garvin!

Eli's first time eating mango was a big success

A different kind of love

As our beautiful baby boy is nearing his first 4 months of life, I am sitting here watching him sleep. He looks so peaceful and content and I have this overwhelming feeling of love. The kind of love I have never felt before. I love every member of my family very much, but this is different. I love holding him, I love stroking his sweet little face, holding his tiny hand and looking into his bright eyes. I would do anything for him and I would lay my life for him.
What I want to do for him most, is to be the best mother I can be. I want him to grow up knowing how much his dad and I love him and how excited we were to welcome him to our family. Eli is such a sweet boy, always happy and very social. His smile and giggles melt my heart and I just want to hold him tight. When Brian has to leave, he misses him and asks for consant picture updates.
It is incredible how quickly he is growing, he is becoming so strong and playful, he touches my face when he wakes up next to me in the morning and it feels like nothing else matters at the moment.

So to end my nightly ramble, I want you Eli to know that every day we have you in our lives, I tell myself how lucky I am to be a mom to such an amazing boy.  I love you with all of my heart and I love your dad with all of my heart as well. You two are my boys and with you, everything is okay.

I love you. Mom
